Most of my songs aren't about me. They're about stuff I've seen.

Certain social situations make me feel like a square peg in a round hole. Realising you can connect to the human race through song makes me feel less alien.

Music is my way of getting away from everything. It means a lot to me.

As society changes, as politics change, as people change, certain songs still seem to resonate.

Once a song's out there, it's no longer mine. And that's the whole purpose of music: to belong to people.

I mean my point as an artist is I'm on my own little weird journey across the sky here and whether or not anybody's listening, or listening to the degree I would like them to, at the end of the day has to be an inconsequential thing because I can't chase this culture.

If certain songs become popular enough to the point where I'll be playing them the rest of my life, I don't want them all to dwell on the same down moment that I'll have to keep reliving.

Music can bring about different vibes on the field, off the field, urban life, going to church, leaving church. Everything the world may bring, there's a song for it to put you in the right frame of mind.

Most of my songs are about insensitivity of some kind.

It's all about music, because music is basically what's... been my avenue out of maybe being involved in things I shouldn't be.
