I always try to give my own albums space in between so I have time to create a new sound and give time for people to miss me. You have to come out fresh and reinvent yourself.

I'm just going to make the music I love to make, and I'm going to mature with my music.

It's quite liberating to get to a certain age, 'cos you're not chasing number one hits or trying to be an international superstar. I've done all that. I'm not out to prove much more to anyone but myself really, to be an artist and see if there is a new undiscovered music out there for me to make.

I want to be the kind of artist who keeps pushing on every album. I don't want to settle on a sound.

I don't live in the past or focus on making new songs sound like my old stuff; it would be stupid, and I don't think anyone would like it.

What I'm hoping is that every album I'm going to do will give my audience something different, and that they'll grow as I do.

My first album didn't come out until I was 26.

I'm not trying to keep up or adapt. I'm allowing myself to grow, evolve and create new music.
