I suggest we bring some normality back to this country and say if you are carrying a knife, there must be zero tolerance. If it was up to me, everyone caught with a knife would get an automatic ten year sentence.

Obviously, we think it's important to make sure that firearms do not get in the hands of people who are criminals, convicted felons or adjudicated as mentally ill.

My focus is that firearms are handled safely and that we can continue to enjoy them here in North America.

Guns aren't the problem; sick people are.

In truth, there is no rational argument for guns in this society. This is no longer a frontier nation in which people hunt their own food. It is a crowded, overwhelmingly urban country in which letting people have access to guns is a continuing disaster.

Arguments that we will never stop all shootings by restricting access to such weapons fails to account for our strong and common desire at least to stop many of them - or any of them.

Instead of saying we need to outlaw certain types of weapons, we need to find better ways to enforce current law.

Reasonable regulations regarding the ownership of weapons are appropriate.
