The American people are going to judge the majority party here today. If they go out here and vote for this rule that allows this provision to be stricken, they are voting against the men and women in the military of our country.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
The fact is the American people want men and women to stand up and represent them and to put their interests ahead of the party interests.
If the Republican Party does not learn to understand unmarried women as the political force and potent voting bloc that they have become, we risk becoming the minority party.
Any time something goes wrong, Republicans pick on women and minorities.
We reasoned that the men would find it difficult to vote against the women in their home states when a woman was sitting with them making laws.
We in this Congress have a choice. The American people have a right to exercise a choice on this issue, as to whether our men and women will continue to fight and die in a war based on deception and fantasy, or to start bringing the troops home.
The majority does not rule in America, but the minority shouldn't hijack it. And it's because we're afraid. They have isolated us and made us feel as though we're alone. We're not.
The State, in choosing men to serve it, takes no notice of their opinions. If they be willing faithfully to serve it, that satisfies.
I may fall here in the Senate chamber, but I will. never make any compromise with any such men.
It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.
The vote means nothing to women. We should be armed.
