I read books all the time. I'm just half looking for something to do; I mostly just read for pleasure. Occasionally I stumble across something that could be a movie, but I don't put a book down just because I don't see a movie in it, either.

Finding people who get enormous pleasure from reading books is a more and more unusual experience, and so writers just so much want to be heard.

To read a book or watch a movie any other way, to me, personally, feels like a waste of time and misapplication of energy.

Any time you can take a book a little beyond the realm of pure entertainment, I think it's a good thing. But I don't really have it on my to-do list when I write a book. It just evolves naturally during the process of immersing yourself in a subject.
