A lot of my humor centers on the act of telling jokes and I think this can prevent certain audiences from suspending their feeling of disbelief. It might piss a few people off, but I can't help it.

For 35 years, I was a writer. I wrote a lot of jokes. Some of them weren't funny. Some of them weren't appropriate. Some of them were downright offensive. I understand that.

As long as you can laugh, you are not old.

It's much easier to make jokes about sensitive issues if there is some dissent, some conflict.

Comedy is such a vulnerable thing. With drama, you're not trying to make someone cry. If you do, great, but that's not your goal. With comedy, you're trying to make someone laugh, so to me, it's harder because you are in such a vulnerable position. You're like, 'I hope people like this. I hope I do the joke justice.'

A comedy can actually get funnier and funnier. Even though you know the joke, you enjoy it so much, it's the facial expression, you laugh. The laugh doesn't wear off. It could be with you for thirty years.

I've come to realize that the more I censor myself, the less people relate to me.

If you are truly offended by an 80-year-old man saying you're not funny, then you're probably not funny.

I've never known how to censor myself. I say what I want at any time.

I try not to censor myself at all.
