I started a big band when grunge was popular. I mean, that didn't make much sense.

It's like, what happened, I was always leading fashion, and then the grunge thing kind of came along. And because I've been so on top in the '80s you know, I, you know, what can I do? Suddenly go grunge?

And I was victim to that very early in my career, where I would go into auditions, and I'd be wearing a big T shirt, a big baggy T shirt and loose jeans. You know, to try and show people that there was more to me than just that.

I love '90s grunge and punk.

There hasn't been anything real since grunge. That was the last movement led by music or an art form.

We were perceived as a post-grunge band.

Starting modeling in the '90s, it was quite surreal. They were like, 'You're so different! So weird! So bizarre!' And I'm like, 'I'm so normal. What are you talking about?'

It's been too many years since I've played live as myself as opposed to in a fake band for a film.

I'm more old school: I want to be like Keith Richards on stage. It's not interesting to see straight-from-runway clothes slapped on an artist. It's more interesting when you see people who have their own style.

I grew up in the '90s, and I loved Nirvana.
