I've loved musical theater ever since I was a kid. My mother's a pianist, and my grandfather was an amateur theater director and stand-up comic. And I was an only child. And I loved attention. So from an early age, my family was teaching old musical songs.

I think my mom is the inspiration of me wanting to do film and TV and be an actor because she loved film so much. She loved, like, horror films and action films, so growing up, she loved watching all the Charles Bronson films and all the westerns.

My mom took me to see Carnal Knowledge and The Wild Bunch and all these kind of movies when I was a kid.

The interest of my mother was more in the entertainment field. She loved to go to concerts and to the theatre.

Theater was definitely part of my roots. My father would take me to plays, and then my mother was always on the lookout for other talent and taking me to see plays. I saw Frank Langella in 'Dracula'... Great, great performances. I was a theater rat, hanging out backstage.

I got into theater at an early age.

I used to watch a lot of musicals as a kid. Musical movies, not so much musical theater.

My family was never cultural in that we never went to see plays, my mum wasn't very into films.
