If you had ever heard my album you would know that I could never consider the music business!

I've never been the type of person to jump up and throw out the album without it being what it's supposed to be.

With the first album, I wanted to do so many different things, and I was fighting with myself to try and see if I was worthy enough to do it.

My whole team, it wasn't about putting the album out, it was about getting off the record company and going independent or going to another label. To the point we were like, 'Listen, just take 'Lasers.' You can have whatever percentage off the next ten records I do for the rest of my life. I just do not want to be here anymore.'

We went into that knowing that we were never going to sell a major record 'cause we didn't sound like these bands, so I just thought this was an opportunity for us to make the kind of records that we wanted and make some money at the same time.

But when our first album came out, I didn't think it was going to sell a lot of records.

If you wait this long to put an album out, you'd better be sure you tried your best.

I picked and co-wrote the songs that if I was a guy who would be spending my hard-earned money buying an album I would want to hear.

I began the process of recording myself seriously in the fall of 1999. If I could finish an album of my own music, I would. Five years later I am happy to say I have.

I don't even remember the last time I bought an album, honestly.
