Brunch, for me, is an extended breakfast that should be enjoyed whenever you have time properly to engage in cooking and eating.

I love making buckwheat crepes with ham, Parmesan cheese, and a fried egg on top. It's my go-to breakfast.

On a perfect weekend, I'll stay in bed until I am rested, though I am not someone who sleeps late. Then I'll go for a run through the parks nearby, even if it is frosty and cold, and I love meeting friends for brunch. You know you are truly on a day off if you have time to do brunch.

I love cheese and biscuits, the stronger the better.

I love food: biscuits and gravy, cheese grits, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken-fried steak with white gravy... but my favorite dish is my wife's beanie weenie cornbread casserole. It's so good. It sounds stupid, but if you eat it, it's heaven. Of course, it's only something you can eat if you've got a lot of money.

Personally, I enjoy a bowl of brown rice for breakfast most of the time.

For friends, I love to make bruschetta. I grill country bread with Frantoia olive oil and make toppings, like crab, roasted squash, mushrooms, whatever's seasonal.
