I don't think I could last in anything for 10 years doing a character.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Although just being employed as an actor is a big thing, I'm not sure I'd be satisfied playing the same character for 30 years; it's not why I want to do this for a living.
If I'm honest, the reason I got into acting is not the reason I'm still doing it, and if I'm still doing it in ten years' time, I'm sure I'll find something else.
So if you see Ten Years After, it's not me anymore. I'm very happy with what I am doing now.
To some degree, Hollywood doesn't know what to do with me because the characters I do are so different. But hopefully, that will give me longevity.
I don't like to say where I'll be in 10 years.
In next five to 10 years I probably would have done my best work, but I was afraid of having another 10 or 15 years ahead of me and feeling stale, so this was an opportunity to reinvigorate myself.
It is hard to imagine 10 years is not quite long enough to learn a lesson.
But I've consistently worked for 10 years.
I think you can go from being not very funny to working really hard for 10 years and figuring out how to make a living on the road, but I don't think you can rise much above that.
I'd play the same character for ten years if the words and the moments that I'm playing are authentic.
