I became famous almost before I had a craft.

I never got tied down to any social scene. I was just into creating stuff. And I think, even today, that's how I'm able to work and move between so many different genres - I want to be part of what's happening, I want to make new things.

Growing up, my dad owned a restaurant in Washington, DC, and food was something I was passionate about. But when I finally got into it, I felt like it was so late in the game; that's why I worked seven days a week at Craft and Mercer Kitchen. I wanted to see how far I could take it.

I want to be known for my performances and doing my craft well, not for funny stuff I post on Twitter or whatever.

I got involved early on in social media - I created one of the first social networks - and for me, social gaming was a natural evolution of that.

I began learning the sportswriting business very early in life.

My dad was an interior design and furniture person. I started working with him for four years before my first TV writing break.

When I was about 12, I spent the summer writing four plays on my dad's old typewriter for a school play competition. And I wrote little comic bits at secondary school and at university.

After I left school, where I studied art, photography and textiles at A-level, I started doing an apprenticeship in interior design, but I wasn't really enjoying it very much, so I decided to do something creative, and in 2009, I began blogging.
