Vulnerability is huge. I love to see that in characters. It's something I feel like a lot of my comedic heroes have always done.

Vulnerability is about showing up and being seen. It's tough to do that when we're terrified about what people might see or think.

Growing up, I was a very shy kid but I felt that being on stage or playing another character would somehow open me up. And I think it did.

I'm really vulnerable onstage because it's just me. I'm not really trying to put up a front or act a certain way.

Acting has always been a way for me to express myself, and show all my vulnerabilities and flaws through my characters.

For me, being able to be vulnerable is difficult, but it's just something that I feel comfortable doing. I need to fully understand why, the thought-process behind the character and I have to believe it. That comes from a lot of preparation.

I always sort of create practical problems so that I don't have to see a film I've just done. I'm too vulnerable, too fragile. People see your work, and there's nothing you can do. You're completely exposed.

The day people around me stop questioning my character is the day my character begins to grow vulnerable.

I feared vulnerability more than my actual emotional pain itself!
