I've been careful to keep my life separate because it's important to me to have privacy and for my life not to be a marketing device for a movie or a TV show. I'm worth more than that.

I'm not eager at all to present my life out there for public consumption. I like to do one or two films a year and then do what is absolutely obligatory in terms of promoting them. My life outside of films is vital to me.

My private life has nothing to do with my films.

I categorically resist this idea that films are supposed to be autobiographical and the only stories you tell are about your own life.

When I have to promote things now, sometimes I realize that I had a movie in mind, but in the end, it's a vision of somebody else, so I have to promote their idea.

I won't ever direct a film. And I certainly won't write an autobiography. Only self-obsessed people want to write or talk about themselves!

I'm like, 'What world am I living in?' Aren't movies made to have something to say? Why make a movie if you don't have something to say? What are you doing it for? Are you doing it because you want to make a lot of money?

I don't like to share my personal life... it wouldn't be personal if I shared it.
