I came to the Steelers after four years of high school and four years of college, and now I look on my stay here as 13 years of postgraduate work; I think I'm ready for the world.
Sentiment: POSITIVE
The Steelers have influenced everything I've done as an adult.
I've done everything I can at the University of Washington... I know I'm ready for the NFL.
My mother was a huge Steelers fan, so they were my team growing up.
The people that I was working with made it all good for me - made it important to me - made it special. I will miss everyone in the Steelers organization.
But I was always a bit of a gypsy, anyway. I spent five years at Oklahoma State, five years at Miami and moved on after winning the national championship, and five years with the Cowboys. So, I was ready to move on. We won back-to-back Super Bowls, and I felt that I accomplished what I wanted to accomplish.
I wanted to be in the situation where I could have a chance to go to the NFL and be a great quarterback and take care of my family.
To have six years of professional football under my belt already is really something.
Going to college offered me the chance to play football for four more years.
Obviously, you get to do a lot of great things and cool opportunities at the Super Bowl. But at the end of the day, we all want to be here as a player. That's the goal, and that's why I work so dang hard.
To be honest, I've just become a Steelers fan.
