I've been around where I knew other actors were going to steal the scene, and I don't compete with them.

People think, 'You're an actor, you can afford clothes,' but I just try to take the clothes from the movie, which makes the selecting of film projects that much more difficult, because you try to play characters that might wear something you'd want to wear.

I know a lot of actors talk about the importance of wardrobe, and it always seems like it's kind of a cop-out, maybe, because it seems like a minor detail to some people. But I think it's hugely important.

You can't steal every scene. There are scenes in which you need to sit back and do a lot less, verbally, physically.

Suffice it to say, every actor works differently. Laurence Olivier would put on his costume and when the wardrobe was right, he was in character. That sounds superficial, but it's true, and look at the results.

But I'm guessing every actor is insecure.

I get why certain actors want to stay in the closet.

Hopefully, I'm not stealing scenes from other actors, because then they won't want to work with me.
