I like it when you read a script and there's the part that you show to the other characters and then there's the part that only the audience knows.

Often the starting point for characters, for me, is finding a little, most minor detail, and I'll go from there.

I love to see how a character unfolds off the page in a project. I don't always know how the character is going to turn out, even with the script being there. It's not always clear where that character is going to take me. Or where I will take them.

A good part's a good part. You can play serious and funny moments with a well-written role.

My preparation is mainly just knowing the lines and getting in and knowing where your character is, knowing what it's about and having ideas that you can put in on the day.

There is the great creative part of it. The writing is the best part.

My favorite part of any project is the preparation. It's where you get to meet the people, the experts.

I like risky parts - abrasive characters the audience won't necessarily like.

I try to leave out the parts readers skip.

Even now I try to make each page compelling for the readers to get absorbed in the book.
