I love British bands.

So many of the bands that influenced me growing up were English, even if I didn't realise it. English pop ruled the world in the '80s!

There's a focus that hasn't been there for ages and ages and some American bands are sounding quite English like they did in the late 70s and early 80s.

I have been long associated with British music. I have favoured it as my alternate music next to American.

Just look at 'K-pop' - who would've expected American fans to embrace it? It's really cool to be one of those artists who can break through the American market. I'm not trying to conquer America; I just want to make music and see if people like it.

Most of my fans, if you were to look on their iPods, you'd see every possible genre of music represented in some capacity.

It's not that I don't like American pop; I'm a huge admirer of it, but I think my roots came from a very English and Irish base. Is it all sort of totally non-American sounding, do you think?

I don't think there is much American music.

I've always liked country music. It's a certain aspect of America that goes back to the British Isles and the influence is very native to America.

My iPod's unbelievable. Seriously. The kids have put most of the music on it, but there's a complete mix of '80s rubbish and current day stuff.
