Being in the Girl Scouts took me out of the projects environment and showed me different things.

As a young boy, scouting gave me a confidence and camaraderie that is hard to find in modern life.

I also developed an interest in sports, and played in informal games at a nearby school yard where the neighborhood children met to play touch football, baseball, basketball and occasionally, ice hockey.

In life I've learned one thing; if you want to be good you have to connect with the best people. So I got very close to the high-stakes players here. I get to watch them and play with them a little bit.

You never know, the way technology is going, we might all use the games for scouting by the time I retire.
