We've got so many different cultural groups in my family that I've had to learn to accommodate them in different ways. My father speaks different to my mum. My mum speaks different to my grandmother. Everybody speaks different, so you find you start tweaking your language to be more accessible to people.

I think when I first started out making music here in Los Angeles, a lot of people were really curious about my ethnicity, and you know, whatever questions they had, I'd be more than happy to answer them.

I try to communicate in a way that allows people in on what's going on. What's better than references to popular culture?

I feel like I've started to create my own culture of being a voice for something, and that's what people want to know about. I love that because I am a woman and because I a rap, and I look the way I look, I can connect with the demographic of people who feel like they have a voice in me.

I know that people think of me in terms of Latin music and that's wonderful, that's my heritage, that's who I am, but there's so much more to me and my music.

To be honest, accents are one of those things for me, personally, that usually come quite naturally by just listening to the people.

The cool thing about doing a voice-over into a different language is that you get to bring the character of your own culture into it.

The diverse sound of my music makes it a good fit for that demographic.

I'm a little bit of everything. Sometimes people think I'm not Puerto Rican, because my name doesn't sound Spanish.

I do that in whatever language of the country I'm in, because the audience appreciate it.
