I am committed to protecting our country against the threat of terrorism.

Well, human security is a concept that I am very committed to enshrining in American foreign policy.

In order to be successful against each of these threats, we have to have a presence overseas, work closely not only with our counterparts in the law enforcement community, but also with the intelligence community.

First and foremost, my job is to protect the American people.

Our top focus - protecting our Nation - must go beyond homeland preparedness; America will only be secure if we deal with threats before they happen, not just after they happen.

We must continue to ensure law enforcement has the necessary tools to combat terrorism here at home. We must also work with our allies and provide our military with the weapons and protective gear they need to defeat terrorism abroad.

I will defend and enforce the laws of our country to ensure that our people and our nation are protected.

We need to use the benefit of our law enforcement people across this country, combined with our intelligence people across this country. We need to use our technological advantages, because what we've warned of is an international guerrilla movement that threatens this country.

I work on the Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees to keep us safe at home and strong in the world.

My first responsibility is to keep America safe.
