I'd met Dr Dre, he was thinking about his next album, we talked a little and he said, 'Let me give you some of these loops and see what you come up with'.

But working with Dre, I grew up with his music, so I'm still like more a fan.

I think pop music is in such an exciting place right now, and I do kind of credit that to Lorde with 'Royals.' I think that song changed everything in the pop scene. All of the sudden, alternative pop music became pop music.

People are getting away from the whole album experience, it's true. I think that's sad. Maybe I'm just saying that because I'm an old fart. But I can't help it - albums are what I grew up with, and I still love them.

A lot of songs are derivative of each other.

It was only later on that I became more interested in older music.

Dre was one of my heros in the music industry. If he's not down for his homeboys, I don't wanna be a part of him or around him.
