I was raised, myself, by extremely strict but also extremely loving Chinese immigrant parents. To this day, I believe that their having high expectations for me, coupled with love, was the greatest gift that anyone's ever given me. And so that's why, even though my husband is not Chinese, I try to raise my own two daughters the same way.

Even though I'm very Westernized as an individual and very Canadian, I guess I've lost some of my Chinese culture.

I actually didn't grow up in a household that loved Chinese food particularly, and it's not really my go-to food or anything... We were more a pizza family, being from the Chicago area and all.

During the long process of history, by relying on our own diligence, courage and wisdom, Chinese people have opened up a good and beautiful home where all ethnic groups live in harmony and fostered an excellent culture that never fades.

My experiences growing up in both a Chinese American household and the Catholic Church define much of who I am.

I'm very curious to witness the historic transformation of Chinese women.

I would not call my family 'traditional Chinese.' We were more what I would term the Colonial Chinese.
