I fundamentally believe that politics is counterintuitive. The left think they're helping working people by providing more rights, but all that actually happens is you create poverty and despair, because jobs go to your competitors who have fewer rights for workers.

I don't believe any person looking for work is fearful of political judgment. Government is a large institution, and if they believe that people are going to get rid of good employees for political reasons, that's absurd.

Republicans absolutely support equal pay for equal work.

Thanks to President Bush and Republican principles, businesses now have more confidence to hire workers.

Democrats believe we must create jobs, not protect the special interests; build the economy from the middle out, not the top down.

I always get a little bit frustrated with Republicans, because we always talk about job creators, and really who we should be talking to is their employees.

You've got to respond to that and of course thinking through the role of a left party in the modern world, in the modern economy and society and having a policy response to that.
