Very early on, when I started doing these plays and live shows, I would travel from city to city, and there were a million shows out there... so I wanted to step out among it, and I started putting my name above the title.

You would have to be naive to think you can appear on television and not have the material edited in some way.

I don't mind that I am not necessarily a household name, because I think my characters have outshined me. That was by design. And I'm not wanting for appreciation.

If I put my name on something, I'm going to be involved. I'm not just going to put my name on it and not pay attention.

It makes it harder to write if I watch a lot of television, because television is not like a written story.
