There are many ways for organisms to probe the external world. Some smell it, others listen to it, many see it. Each species, therefore, lives in its own unique sensory world of which other species may be partially or totally unaware.

I have no idea how things work in the life beyond what we know with our senses.

Our bodies communicate to us clearly and specifically, if we are willing to listen to them.

We can track and see the production of single molecules, trace them and see how they assemble into structures.

Smell is a long-distance sense, a way of stretching time and finding out in advance what lies ahead.

We know that our senses are subject to decay, that from our middle years they are decaying all the time; but happily it is as if we didn't know and didn't believe.

There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception.
