I used to get so carried away while I was on stage that I'd be physically damaged by the end of a concert.

I try to be careful not to do single concerts where I fly out, do my show, turn around and go home.

In those days a concert was a personal experience. I wanted to be as close as possible to the audience, and of course big stadiums didn't enable you to do that. It wasn't my style.

I did a few DJ gigs at empty clubs, sort of as a warm-up set before Flume was a thing. I did one when I got big enough, and I had five friends come down, and they were the only ones dancing. That was one of my earliest ones. I was super nervous.

A lot of times you go to a concert, and when you leave, you don't know anything more about the act then when you got there.

I got to show off in front of my husband, who married me as I was stepping out of the business, so he had no idea that I could strut my stuff on the stage.

But, what did happen is I went to Woodstock as a member of the audience. I did not show up there with a road manager and a couple of guitars. I showed up with a change of clothes and a toothbrush.

They tell me I produced songs. I just stood in the back, wore a good suit and said, Yeah, that's happening.
