Some things are very low profile, but if they excite me creatively, I accept them. Sometimes there are high-profile projects, and you have to do it. We all have human limitations. It is a painful decision to turn things down. Even accepting 'Slumdog Millionaire' was a decision that I had to sacrifice another project.

Before I became a game designer, I was a software engineer.

The thing is, I wasn't surrounded by lots of people who were helping me build a career.

Probably some of the projects I chose to do after that had more to do with what people thought of me. The industry was very open and probably hoping that I could do anything.

And I didn't, that's why my career was very short lived.

I see myself as a technical person who chose a great project and a great way of doing that project.

You never undertake a project because you think other people will like it - because that way lies madness - but rather because you believe in it.

It is a very frustrating thing to be the face of a creative project and yet essentially have zero creative control over that project. Essentially, you're a pawn in the system.
