I never understood the hit-single, quick-success, get-airplay mentality.

We used to call it recurrent airplay when someone had a hit.
We can get airplay all across the board, from CHR to Active rock.
Good music comes out of people playing together, knowing what they want to do and going for it. You have to sweat over it and bug it to death. You can't do it by pushing buttons and watching a TV screen.

It gives the listener a good workout, to listen to the music, the same as it does us to play it.
I would like to see more airplay for all artists, no matter what age. I think there's a lot of money being spent toward the young guys, but a lot of the older guys are the ones who blazed the trail for those young guys.
We were number one most added at radio, when the single came out and that's much different. It took like eight months for any radio to happen on the first record, so a lot more support has happened right out of the box.
Obviously, the hit singles get the biggest reaction - that's when you can see people really getting excited.
