I've never really had a hobby, unless you count art, which the IRS once told me I had to declare as a hobby since I hadn't made money with it.

But most is all to do with work. There are aspects of work that are enjoyable, that you could call a hobby.

There are great disciplines from being a sportsman that you can transfer into being an artist. The preparation, the sacrifice, the constant desire to improve.

All of those art-based fields are similar in that they're all hard to make a living in and they all require an intense amount of training and discipline.

It's really easy to project this whole ideology of what being an artiste is, and I'm just not down with intellectualizing it. I just think, if you feel like doing something, then do it.

Art is maybe a subversive activity. There is a certain rebellion when you are an artist at heart, even if only in the art of living.

I still maintain several different outlets of artistry, like my music, photography, writing and all those things. I don't pigeonhole myself into one thing. I do all sorts of things, and that's so important to me.

I don't have any hobbies. Music is my hobby.

I'm not one who divides music, dance or art into various categories. Either something works, or it doesn't.
