When you're a comedic actor and you're used to just getting laughs, it's kind of scary to go serious, even for a second.

Some actors try to play parts and do things they can't do. Being funny is one of them. Being funny's hard.

From the point of view of being in the public radar, comedians have less problems than other actors. Action movie stars like Stallone or Schwarzenegger usually attract the more aggressive fans.

It's also that comedians don't have the kind of narcissism that actors have. They're writers who perform their own material. It's more interesting. And they're sexy because they risk more. Stand-up comedians risk more than anyone.

Most of the people I know in comedy are not weird or messed up.

I don't come from a comedy background or a stand-up background, but I think that sometimes there's a misconception that an actor who works primarily in comedy is a comedian. There's nothing wrong with being a comedian, but I'm absolutely not that. I can't think of anything more terrifying than doing stand-up!

As far as I can tell, comedians are pretty serious people, and that's why they make fun of things all of the time.

Comedians work great as actors because they're good under pressure. With a lot of actors, you have to make them feel like everything's going really well to get a good performance out of them. But, if you have a comedian on the set, you can tell them, 'Hey, you really are screwing this up,' and then they just get better.

I guess ultimately a lot of comedians just wanna be taken seriously.
