Presidents come and go, but the Supreme Court goes on forever.

It's been 80 years since the Senate has confirmed a Supreme Court nominee who was nominated during an election. And particularly when the court hangs in the balance, it makes no sense whatsoever to give Barack Obama the power to jam through a judge in the final election year.

This is the most historic moment in Supreme Court history in our lifetime, no question about it. These are justices who are going to serve for decades.

So the danger of conservative judicial activism has been averted for another year. Stay tuned.

There are a lot of wonderful people in America who shouldn't be on the Supreme Court - and a lot who should be on the court who aren't such wonderful people.

We need to consider nominations as thoroughly and carefully as the American people deserve. No one is entitled to a free pass to a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court needs jurists, not politicians.

It's a hard job to become president.

I have always thought that term limits for Justices sound good until you really give the issue some thought.
