I find the 1940s very compelling. It is a very excitable period in the U.S. when, whether out of necessity or not, everybody was reinventing themselves.

I would have liked the old days.

To define the era we live in is very difficult. How do we define it? We define it by music.

I was partly old-fashioned and partly modern.
