Bands that I've loved over the years are the ones that have a certain myth around them.

Lyrics are coming to you all the time. I get inspiration in the middle of the night.

As a teen, I heard the second Velvet Underground album, 'White Light/White Heat,' and it was too much for my limited scope of appreciation. It was intense, but I didn't get it.

Sometimes I'll have an idea for a story or have a subject, and that will inspire lyrics, but most of the time, hopefully, they already exist somewhere else.
