I learn so much more in an ensemble movie.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Well, it's more of a sane life to be part of an ensemble! I find that the work can be more specific too and I have to really make sure I know where I am in the story because I'm not in every scene.
I always try and learn as much as I can from different departments on a film set.
I always start a film thinking I know how to do it, then I learn all over again.
I'm learning more and more to share creativity with the crew and actors. A film crew is more powerful if you listen to them, but it does make my job more tough because I have to listen.
I learn a lot as a director from acting in other people's films and just in general.
In the kind of films that I do, there is an extremely limited number of people that can improvise. The reason the ensemble continues in the movies is because those are the people that can do that kind of work. It's not just an accident those people are in the film.
Every movie I make teaches me something. That's why I keep making them.
Every time I make a film, I feel it gives me the chance to learn something new.
I like to make films where I learn along the way, like the audience.
I never rehearse scenes with the whole ensemble, because I need to preserve some surprise. Instead, I work with the cast individually on their characters.
