I've heard that I've gotten a lighter complexion, as if I've bleached my skin. I think that is so stupid and ludicrous. For those who want to bleach their skin, that's fine. I just didn't bleach mine. I'm a black woman. I don't want to be anything but a black woman.

But of course it's different now, the blues is no longer blues, it's green now.

Dead bodies do get a grayish blue/purple hue because blood pools in the capillaries and the body starts to decompose. It's not smurf blue, but it's not a pleasant shade.

I put a limited time on the blues. I say, 'I allowed myself to be blue for four hours, and now I'm going to stop.'

I have been black and blue in some spot, somewhere, almost all my life from too intimate contacts with my own furniture.

We would like to get to a point in our society where people really are colorblind and this message would not have to be told anymore. Unfortunately, we're not there yet.

Sun-bleached bones were most wonderful against the blue - that blue that will always be there as it is now after all man's destruction is finished.

I wear black because I'm comfortable in it. But then in the summertime when it's hot I'm comfortable in light blue.
