I had to actually purchase a book to learn the API and write the client. It was pretty frustrating trying to learn the API and develop a product quickly.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
I'm still a novice student.
I wish there were a hundred services with which I could easily look at such a book; it would have saved me a lot of time, and it would have spared Google a tremendous amount of effort.
I basically wrote the code and the specs and documentation for how the client and server talked to each other.
'The Client List' is my baby. I always tell people, 'It took nine months to put this project together because it is my baby.' And, it really did take that long!
I didn't have to struggle at all to get an agent and a publisher. Everything fell into my lap.
It's a little bit like my inability to read a guide book before I go anywhere. I can read it after I've been there and by the same logic I refuse to accept any technical stunts from anybody. I refused to learn more than I knew and I confess I missed a great deal.
I had to learn everything about manufacturing, patents and how to run a business, and eventually I came up with an prototype that worked.
I wasn't a very good student. I prefer to learn by experience.
You learn so much by having customers and figuring out what they want and keeping them satisfied.
Everything I ever wanted to know I just ask a search engine and there's the answer. So the least I can do for my clients is share what I've learned.
