The general direction seems to be becoming fairly clear to me, but every new piece is a small adventure.

I like to surprise myself. I've always been attracted to projects where I don't know how they're going to turn out.

But me, because I'm such a transcendental thinker, it's always like a journey and an adventure with each project. It's like going through a different doorway each time.

Whenever I start a new book, I think, 'This is the most interesting subject of all time. It's sad, I'll never enjoy writing another book as much as I enjoy this one.' Every time, I'm convinced. And then I change my mind when I start the next book.
