Do you advocate the Ten Commandments as a guide to the good life? Then I can only presume that you don't know the Ten Commandments.

The better life rests less on the prohibitions of the Ten Commandments and more on the parable of the Good Samaritan and the Golden Rule.

The state can be a force for good. The Rule of law is absolutely essential to a good life. God has instituted government and leaders throughout history and throughout the Biblical narrative. However, the state is growing precisely as the church is fading as a force for good, and this does not seem to be a good trend.

Rules are not necessarily sacred, principles are.

We need to accept that the commandments of God aren't just a long list of good ideas. They aren't 'life hacks' from an Internet blog or motivational quotes from a Pinterest board.

Moral values, and a culture and a religion, maintaining these values are far better than laws and regulations.

The laws were not made so much for the direction of good men, as to circumscribe the bad.

Good men must not obey the laws too well.

Good laws are the offspring of bad actions.

The Ten Commandments were not a suggestion.
