I entered the cosmetics industry because I wanted more women to use cosmetics made with safe, healthful ingredients.

I started the cosmetics in 1994 after I stopped modeling, out of my frustration as a woman of color not finding what I needed.

One year, my good deed started with deciding to give all my friends makeup from a cruelty-free cosmetics line that I love. I did this with the hope that they would love it as much as I do and end up switching their makeup over to that cruelty-free line forever.

I always had a vision about beauty in general, so probably that's what really drove me into that direction of creating a makeup brand.

As a little girl I always dreamed of having a cosmetics contract, which was the cherry on top of 'making it' in my opinion.

In 2016, makeup has become an incredible passion and hobby for men and women, but it hasn't become mainstream.

I discovered I was passionate about the creative process, the product development, creating a concept around a fragrance or lipstick.

Growing up on stage, I was introduced to makeup at a young age and I will never forget the first time I tried on a L'Oreal Paris iconic lipstick - it was instant glamour and I've been hooked ever since.

At the end of the day, my legacy will not be modelling but my cosmetics line.

I love skin care and actually wanted to be an esthetician for many years.
