I've done about six comedies. Oddly enough, the script came to me from one of the guys in Platoon.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
I haven't really done a lot of comedies. I don't know why, because I really like them.
I hadn't done just a straight-out comedy in a long time, just letting an ensemble do really good character acting, having them carry the movie as in my earlier pictures.
Even in college I tended to get cast in the comedies more. It was what I liked doing.
I could keep trying to do the same kind of comedies. You know how it's going to go, and you can get an audience with it, but then I feel like a hamster on a wheel.
I don't see myself making comedies always.
I started writing this feature comedy in New York - a Chris Farley vehicle. The script was decent. When I got to LA, I met some new friends in film school and had them read my script and give me notes.
Unfortunately, I was making comedies in my 20s, but other people didn't realize they were comedies.
Most of the comedies I've done have been rather farcical and extravagant.
There's not many good comedies to watch - you know, comedies that make you glad you watched them.
I don't get offered many comedies.
