You have to be aware of who you're talking to in an audience.

It doesn't matter as long as there's interaction between me and the audience. That's why they come.

I don't try to communicate with my 'audience'. I don't bother with that any more. I used to try to have conversations with people, but it's futile.

You can go from doing something quite silly to something dead serious in the blink of an eye, and if you're making those connections with your audience then they're going to go right along with it.
