My time in the World Rally Championship has been a useful stage in my career, but I can't deny the fact that my hunger for F1 has recently become overwhelming.

I love racing and I love doing well.

You don't come around to the pit lane every mile; when you leave on a rally, you're gone for 500 miles in certain stages. You've got to work on your own car and fix it. It's a logistical nightmare, and it really challenges me.

But my passion is racing cars. It's what I like to do in my off time.

The only time I think about life beyond F1 is when I contemplate becoming a dad. But there's no way that's going to happen while I'm still racing. To be successful in F1 you need to be very selfish in lots of ways and you're away from home for long periods. That's not the kind of father I want to be.

I would like to run about 15 stock car races a year. That would be my goal.

The feeling I got from rallycross was a little bit more of the NASCAR aspect of it; it's a family of races where racing is a passion, and it's not the politics that come with it.

I'm a racer at heart more than anything else, and that will always be my priority: competing. But ultimately, if you can't drive, you can still have the competitive spirit outside of a car.

I've always had a fascination with cars and racing, not that I've ever competed.

Racing may be a minority sport, but I wouldn't swap it for all the money in the world.
