Your dress is so beautiful, and you look so beautiful.' That's it. And I was so upset nobody saying anything about my singing.

Music and dance influence my style in a lot of ways. Sometimes I go off to work dressed up like I'm going to hit the stage and perform.

It's tempting to think, 'This is silly. I'm an artist. I care about my work, my work is first. I don't care about what kind of dress I wear... That's so secondary to me.' But if you care about your work... then you need to take this part of it just as seriously as you would going into an audition and going into work.

My style is all I have. When I go on stage, that's me in my comfort zone. It's not a costume. It's just me. And I want every woman to feel that way.

I have very talented people dress me and put my makeup on, stuff like that. But I do love that look, and I think it's maybe because I grew up on that old glamour.

So for me, fashion was about standing out as an individual - and it helped me get the attention that most people try to get with publicity stunts or by doing other crazy things. But I just let the attention come to me naturally, and I think some of that has to do with my fashion.

I really do feel now that the way I dress onstage and for work is a true reflection of my own sense of style as well.

I realize how talented our hair and wardrobe people are every time I have to get dressed on my own.

It's great to admire other people's fashion choices, but I don't think you should idolise anyone.
