Due to my business commitments, I am faced with time constraints and have not been able to personally spend as much time as I would like on my causes. These efforts are handled by my team of several people.
Sentiment: NEGATIVE
Not managing your time and making excuses are two bad habits. Don't put them both together by claiming you 'don't have the time'.
My goal, with whatever I'm working on, is to lose track of time.
Time management is really key for me.
Without deadlines and restrictions I just tend to become preoccupied with other things.
There are always roles that seem enticing that you can't do because of scheduling.
Also, I need deadlines, just like everybody else, especially coming from magazines, newspapers, and stuff like that. I need daily or weekly deadlines to get stuff done, or I continue to do things and not go off on a year of unproductivity.
Most people have never thought through how they're going to allocate their time. You need to make a decision in advance.
I've been a freelancer my entire career, and, at any given time, I have several deadlines for all sorts of things, whether it's some magazine piece or ad copywriting or anything.
There are always deadlines I have to meet. I don't let myself get too close to the deadlines, so it's not like I'm just sweating bullets or anything if the clock is ticking. I never let myself get in that situation.
Be able to meet any deadline, even if your work is done less well than it would be if you had all the time you would have preferred.
