I love costumes. I love getting dressed up because it really helps my imagination make the leap to believe that I am who I say I am.

Before I was a cosplayer, I was a fan artist. I would draw my favorite characters and sell the pieces at art auctions. But once I discovered cosplay, it was like, 'I don't have to draw my favorite characters, I can become my favorite characters.'

It's always fun messing around with costumes and stuff. You know there is an element of acting that you've got to dress-up; that's part of it.

Costume is a huge part of getting into character. Your body soaks in what you're wearing, and you turn into someone else.

I used to have costumed characters come out, like SpongeBob. It's just fun to make it into this minor event, just to surprise people and experiment and be weird and just have fun with it. I've done just the hour stand-up, and that's fun, but the other stuff makes it fun for me and gives me something to react to and bounce off of.

For me, I've such a steady presence throughout the community that I think if anyone can raise up to the challenge of presenting the face of cosplay, it could be me. Not to be vain, but I've had the training to be in this position.

I have friends who are majorly into the cosplay culture and have urged me to go to a convention for no other reason than to meet others like me.

I've always loved the idea of changing myself, wearing costumes and disguises. It takes you back to being a kid, to dressing up.
