I majored in Chinese Studies. I'm probably the only director of chicken Indian zombie movies who can speak pretty good Mandarin.

We're not going to scramble to make Chinese movies that we don't believe in; we're not going to make co-productions that we don't believe in, and we're not going to try to jam product into China that doesn't make sense.

So, not for lack of love of language, but because I feel our language is in an enormous state of humiliation, I decided to make films without words.
