I did throw a lot of eggs into one basket, as you do in your teenage years - 'I am buying these records, I am wearing this'. I did quite a bit of that. You have to do it, wear your stupid shoes, wear your stupid hair.

When I was 7, I came up with the idea of 'charm socks.' My mom would take me to buy bags of plastic charms, we would sew them on frilly white socks, and I sold them at school.

I came from a dance background, so that's what I did my whole teenage years. I was at the dance studio a lot. It just becomes your social scene and part of your life.

There's nothing more fun than putting on an old costume and jewelry and being in a house that's decorated from the '20s or '30s or whatever.

I was a pin-up girl. I did it for 30 years and, quite frankly, it gets a bit boring.

I grew up a hip-hop kid doing mix-tapes.

I used to do the beat box. A friend of mine, he was the rapper and after, we'd be doing a block party or something or a house party, and he's gettin' all the attention and I'd end up with a handful of spit, you know, from doing the beats.

By the time I was a teenager, when I went outside the house, it was about hip-hop all the time. Nothing but hip-hop, block parties.

As a kid, I loved leading 'dance camp' in my garage for the neighborhood kids. I would choreograph really intricate routines for us to perform. It was so much fun!
