It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking our careers will come to a standstill, or worse, crash and burn if we aren't social media butterflies.

I've never really been into social media - I don't have a Facebook; I don't do Twitter or Instagram or anything.

When I graduated from college, I got a 9-to-5 traditional job doing social media for a company, and I'd spend all day long fighting with the system of getting things approved and the fact that social media has such a quick turnaround. Things had to be very reactive and instant.

I know what Twitter is; I don't use it. I don't use Facebook, so luckily, it does zero to my ego.

What the Internet has done is made it easier to stay in touch with people, and social networking has helped me career-wise by helping me keep in touch with my fans.

Twitter is awesome to share news with fans, but I would never choose to only have social media and put everything in my life on display.
