Well, growing up in the '90s, my first true love was ska music.

I became a professional musician and played all kinds of music. I played bluegrass, I played classical music, and for many years, I played jazz.

I got a lot from my uncle who is a really good ska guitarist. Very ragged makeshift rhythms and intricate lines.

I became interested in folk music because I had to make it somehow.

I played djembe, percussion, keyboards and I sang.

I started playing guitar at, like, 12 or 13 and just rock bands mostly. I had a punk rock band and hard core bands and all that.

I grew up playing classical piano and percussion.
